I had come to this location specifically for two items that no other location within 50 miles had. According to their website, they had over 30 on hand for each.
I can understand if their website said they had 1 to 3 on hand and they were actually out, but seeing that they had over 30... I knew they would definitely have it.
When I got there, I looked all over the store for it... even in the department I thought it would be.
Finally asked for assistance and was quite rudely and impatiently told that they didn't have it and that the website was wrong. He even recommended an item that was similar, but it wasn't similar to what I was looking for and it cost a lot more than the other two I was looking for.
I pondered about buying their recommendation, but wasn't really impressed so I just left the store without getting anything.
I had actually gone out of my way for this specific location as it was on my way home this specific day. It's a 1 hour drive from home. I wouldn't plan a trip to this location anytime soon.
Oh, by the way... I just learned that Home Depot carries it. So, will probably go there this week instead as they have a location that's 10 min away instead of 1 hour away like this Ace Hardware location.
Its hard writing a bad review for this location, due to the convenience and accessibility of this store
Had a couple of mishaps here. I was sold the wrong chain here twice.
Its a great, and convenient location with lots of potential.
I did speak with the manager(i think) about what happened, and he helped me out.
Placed on order online for same-day pickup (said it would be ready in 15 minutes). Called after I received the confirmation email to ask when I could pick it up. I was told it wouldn’t be ready for 3 days.. doesn’t make sense. The store representative was very nice but please don’t advertise same-day pick ups if they aren’t realistic.
**edit: revising review to 5 stars due to the kind response from the owner and prompt refund. I understand the circumstances were beyond you and your team’s control. Look forward to shopping with you guys again.
Called about them having a shopping cart. Yes they had the exact one I wanted. When I got there
It was behind the counter waiting for me. Total time I was in there was under 2 minutes. Including time to make sure that is was big enough to do what I need it for.
I stopped by to pick up a product that's hard to find these days: Original Scent Lysol spray. I remember this scent from my childhood when visiting my grandparents, along with that of Faultless Spray Starch.
I've been shopping at this Ace since 1980, when the location was in Lakewood Village. I don't think I have ever encountered an employee that was friendly. They will answer a question but never lead you to a product. Which is not to say they aren't civil, though one berated me once when I corrected him about the nomenclature of a piece of plumbing. On a recent visit, I got the distinct feeling when I asked for the location of a product that I was making a nuisance of myself. It's a location convenient for me and it usually has what I need. Otherwise, I wouldn't set foot in the store.
They need to train their front desk employees to be friendly. The girl at the front desk is gives off major ‘dead inside’ energy — doesn’t say thank you, doesn’t smile, just very rude
Great store! I was very impressed with the screws and hardware section. I only needed four metal self tapping screws, so I got 6! Normally I have to buy a whole box and just leave it at the clients location. I don't need that many screws in my house or truck. The rest of the store is well organized, plenty of people to help.
This website link is unsure according to my online browser security.

Order online clerk at desk was on the phone while the online pick up guy wasn’t even courteous as if had a little attitude really Not customer service don’t tell Me just sorry ain’t cutting on this one.
Very nice employees!

Idk if the girl at the front desk is hard of hearing or just rude but that seems a little unacceptable

When I got to the place I asked them about a piece I was looking for (I showed them the piece) they told me no I went to the area I thought it could be in and I couldn't find it, I asked someone else and their answer A resounding no and he left the area

Great customer service The people treat you with dignity and respect and get your order right if you think it wrong they'll help you make it right this is a good place good people

It was a simple come and go. The cashier wasn't friendly...just meh.
I really love this place very nice people always.
Friendly small local hardware shop for normal fixer upper needs.
Great service - went above and beyond
Employees are useless.
They're conveniently located with an extremely helpful staff that took care of our immediate needs!
Knowledgeable workers
Not the warmest or helpful staff.
Quality inventory. Could be a little better stocked.
Really good service! I stopped by to get a tiny screw for my broken key fob. They didn't have the right size, so an associate cut down a screw and screwed it in for me! I really appreciated it 😊
Why would y’all close at 6 knowing people do most of their shopping in the evening so stupid
Very friendly staff! This store is very clean and welcoming.
Ace Hardware Lakewood is the best!! I recently had a lamp that I was having issues replacing the switch on, so I went to ace hardware and they were able to not only help me replace the switch but also rewire it for me for only the price of the part! The people working there were so nice and helpful and I cannot recommend this location enough!!
I really enjoy this hardware, the employees there are very helpful. I drive miles away from another one just to go to this one.
My wife and I just had the worst experience at our local hardware store, Ace Hardware, AKA, Lakewood Hardware. The store is great if you know exactly what you're looking for but God forbid you should ask somebody for help... Walking in I received the rudest treatment from the first person that I met who turned out to be the manager and then as I walked through the store and spoke to a salesperson he compounded the situation with even worse service. When I asked him a question about an item he asked me if I was kidding and then proceeded to almost rip apart the package in anger to show me how it worked because I was so ignorant. I do not work in a hardware store and I respect the people that do because they are incredibly helpful with items that you need around the house but man, I can tell you I will never shop at the store again as much as I like to try and support local businesses this place has lost mine forever and I will never recommend anybody to go there as I have for the past six years living in Lakewood. Elliott Hardware is just down the street and they have everything that you could look for in a hardware store and more, including excellent service!
Unfortunately the only way to respond to the owner is by editing my original post. Thanks for your response, unfortunately your commitment to customer service has not been shared with the employees at this store. I will not go back in to find out names because it is not worth getting harassed and I didn't go through the whole experience again, but your salesman got in my face and wanted to fight me. I have to own up on my behavior too. I was very upset, very quickly due to the greeting from your manager (check your schedule for 5/5/24 3:30pm). As we walked in the door, he was standing in front of the paint department and my wife said she needed some paint. He didn't even look at her and pointed to the area. Then I asked a question and his response was, "who am I talking to here, you or him"???? I walked away to find my product and when I asked the salesman for help he acted like he didn't hear me so I repeated, "can I get some help"? He reluctantly came over but lost his cool immediately because I didn't understand how the product worked. I asked him to show me and he then grabbed the package and that is when he began shaking and said, "are you kidding me"? Once he showed me, I understood, but we were already escalated to a verbal attack. My fault, but I have never had worse service and I will never shop in your store again. Your salespeople should recognize people come in to your store looking for help. Not everyone is as knowledgeable as they are about hardware items and that is why we come in asking questions. Your employees are arrogant and rude, no reason to treat a customer that way. By the way, the whole incident took about 5 minutes and I did purchase the item I was looking for....because when he finally showed me it was the right item and I was satisfied. I just don't need to get into a fight when I am shopping and might just asking a simple question.
A pleasure to shop here. They make copy of keyes and sharpen knives! They have specialty items that HD does not carry.
Visiting Texas, looked for picture hanging hardware, got some help from an employee. We found what we needed, quick and efficient check out.
I truly want to thank everybody that helped me today as i ordered my part and had it delivered to my work. Great team work, Very informational.
Hard to imagine a store where the staff look more defeated. The final straw was today where I was after fire starters for the grill and the girl behind the counter just dead-eyed me with “whatever is on the shelves is what we have.” They were maybe ten feet in front of her but that was just too much information to give me. I’ve called up to check stuff is still in stock after seeing it online and they straight away go “no, it’s not.”. I go there and it’s there. I don’t get it, it’s like anti-customer. Never again.
I’ve always liked how they’re generous with their time to help, even if I’m just looking for something small.
Great quality business cards. Good professional service.
Great customer service. Got 4 knives sharpened and they came out great.
The old man who works there is not freshly and I didn't want to go in this time but I was desperate. Once he, speaking like he could care less, forcefully told us they were closing come back during business hours. It was 5 till.
Then I dared tried them for something and he kept telling me they didn't have it and passed me off to another guy after telling me to try an appliance shop, and rattle off a name that still don't know what he said. That is my last time going in there.
I am 57 and I have been treated as though I should know better.
Been in twice., and I believe that is enough.
The other employees are nice, but they are busy talking to each other and you can stand there looking and no one seems to say hello can we help you.
DYNATRAP FLY TRAP
This summer brought a small plague of fruit flies, fungus flies, face flies, mill flies or whatever you choose to call the tiny things. The DynaTrap ran 24-hours for three days with only 6 flies and 1 innocent moth to show for it. Meanwhile the mill fly population increased notably despite cloroxing all our drains and being extremely careful with garbage and spills.
Fortunately my wife noted that the fruit flies were attracted to her wineglass; I did some reading and found that they were also attracted by cider vinegar.
The DynaTrap is easily opened so I placed a cut-down pill bottle inside, secured it with sticky Bluetack, and ran it overnight. It worked MUCH better; the vinegar attracted 4X more face-fruit-mill flies than the previous three days!
I still would not recommend the DynaTrap Fly Trap to a friend, unless they were handy enough to modify it as I did.
They lying saying on their websites that they have certains things and when you go to try to buy them, they told you that they don’t have them
They always seem to have whatever it is your looking for. Professional staff can answer your questions
The nuts, bolts & all that were well organized with parts numbers you can write on a bag and throw everything in for quick n easy ring up at the counter.
The service guys know their bolts, washers and measurement great job in helping me.
Clean, well maintained and organized. They had what I needed and the store is easy to navigate.
My boyfriend is a small business owner and frequents the store for glass and other items. The older gentleman that assisted him today 8/30 around noon was extremely rude, didn’t say a single word to him besides asking him what he needed and 100% ignored him once he completed cutting the glass. Didn’t catch a name but he was wearing a green shirt.
The girl at the front was nice and even mentioned to him that they have a guy sharpening knives on Saturday- and to come back.
Customer service goes a long way and should be important amongst smaller retail stores.
I like the Lakewood hardware because if there's something I need they usually have it. The soda selction is quite impressive too
I love it when I can walk into a bolt & nut isle and an employee is there to help me immediately find what I need. People here are on the ball!
Found what I was looking for immediately and ended up getting a bit more. The staff is very knowledgeable and amazing selection of home repair to gardening.
Good prices, excellent value.
The staff here is awesome. In two years, I have yet to need something, and they didn't have it in stock, I highly recommend them for their service as well as inventory
The service is extraordinary.
There is a wide selection of items for homeowners.
Kind of pricey on certain items....
Great place for metric harware.
I was not impressed one bit. I entered the store and exited to find some shelves, but I received no greeting, the girl in the front was glued to her phone, and the older gentleman looked directly at me and cut his eyes. Then about four other associates acted like I didn't need any assistance. I had to get out of there after not making human contact within 15min of aimlessly looking. I see why big boxes get the business.
Clean and has most stuff you will need for basic home repairs. Overpriced compared to big stores, but you are paying for convenience.
Awesome
Excellent and friendly staff.
The cleanest, well organized, and knowledgeable staff. I was beginning to feel Ace Hardware made a horrible decision in franchising it's brand. I started frequenting the big box guys.Until I walked into this one location. Other locations should take note.
Always find what I am looking for. Everyone very helpful and know what they have in the store. They will also offer ideas to help.
Thank you ACE Hardwares
Help is amazing
I'm installing 2 glass antique door knobs into our newly renovated garage and needed specific items. When I walked into Lakewood Ace Hardware, I was warmly greeted by the woman behind the cash register. Then, a older gentleman saw me fumbling in the hardware section. He gently came over and asked me if he could be of assistance. Well, he was more than helpful! We had a wonderful conversation about old structures in the area and he was very knowledgable about what I needed. He told me things I could do to make it work because I had been troubleshooting for days on this. He made my day! Thank you!
Great selection
Always a good experience getting helped right away and in and out wether or not YOU'RE in a mad rush to get back to a repair OR a fun project
People there are very friendly and very helpful!
Site says they do refills but they only do blue rhino exchanges which are NOT the same, blue rhino notoriously underfills tanks and you have to exchange their tanks, and it costs twice as much. Ripoff, please consider providing accurate information on services on your site
Always pretty Helpful..
Called ahead of time to confirm whether a grill was in stock or not and was told yes. Get there for them to try and sell me the floor model. They didn't even want to discount it. Keep in mind this is a $1250 grill. Gladly took my business elsewhere.
Thanks to the lil Ese... He always a great help .
Ok
A regular Lowe's
There's a dude here who's name I forget only because I've been out of the country for two weeks. He's talk and he's got busy hair and he always helps me match up different size screws and things. He's extremely helpful and deserves a raise and promotion. He's always been spot on with his matching abilities. Next time I go I'm going to get his name again and try to repost. He deserves credit for being extremely helpful, attentive and knowledgeable.
Precios razonables y mucha variedad
Great store! I was very impressed with the screws and hardware section. I only needed four metal self tapping screws, so I got 6! Love this store, Employees are the best their customer service excellence
The man with the cane. He helped me last time I came also. I appreciate him because he came to me , mix my paint up , took my old can away so I would not be burden with it any more. Gave me a stirring stick ,& something I had always wanted to know what was and I kept at my house just because it looked important. A paint can opener. The man is one of the harder working person at the store. I use to work for a lady with a cane and she may as well beat me with it after it was all said and done so the fact that this young man helped me again shows me people are still good . although just had the worst experience in my life with some one with the cane some one at this store made my day. I didn’t get his name but he has helped me with canary yellow paint two times.
Super helpful, knowledgeable employees. However, their selection is limited on a lot of items and they are often out of stock on common items (even before pandemic related supply chain issues).
Very helpful staff, they have a very organized and clean store. They make process of buying any items I need for work a breeze.
They had everything I need in fast out fast.
Friendly staff and clean store. Everything I needed was in stock
Very good store..may not be very big..but the staff are ever so helpful.!! I got what I needed with staff help within 5mins if going in to the store. Will be going in again.
every time I come to this location everyone is very friendly and helpful.
Friendly staff, very helpful if you have hardware needs.
Convenient
Bueno
They make key replacements for about 2.50 per key. Awesome!
A little pricey but I try to get basics here because it's independently owned.
Ace is a great neighborhood place to get things quickly. Their staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. I can always get in and out with the things I need and confidence it will work.
Helpful and friendly staff. Found what I was looking for at a reasonably price. I will be going back again.
More expensive but you get that good oll customer service.
Terrific locally-owned and operated retailer. If you're tired of being ignored at big box stores, come here for attentive help and advice.
Always helpful
Had 2 duplicate keys made before my friend parked
Everyone Is Helpful. This Store Has A Great Group Of Employees.
Great store remodel
Ace has all your hardware in one place
An astonishing amount of expertise found with the staff. Great associates and fair prices.
They jus don't want to refill propane tank !!!
Seriously
Strick on mask
This is a great hardware store. There are people there sometimes that know where things are located. And you can buy a 1299.00 Green egg or a pellet grill. People are very helpful to tell you were something is at without knowing where it’s actually at.
Military protocol was to get directions, regardless of wether or not it was correct, just..... Because.
Anyways, I’m super busy and y’all could be more helpful when anybody’s there.
Online stock matched what they had in store. The team member that assisted me knew exactly where I could find the product.
It's easy to do business here. Some of the staff has been with the store for years so customers have access to all that knowledge and experience. And they're friendly and helpful.
Staff was very helpful
Buen servicio
They sale all cealicon you need.
Buen.precios.y
Calidan.ylomejor
Wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! Scott and Joe are very knowledgeable, helped me fix my sink and saved me big bucks! Great customer service.
Great selection for the smallest of details
Always have what I need. Jasmine was very helpful
Rude manager. Unhelpful staff.
They had what I was looking for & went to the back to get it for me. The big box stores wouldn't!
Great lil store
Above and beyond. Every time. Thank you!
Great staff and stocked with everything you need.
The people at this location are the most helpful people I know.
They truly want to assist you in whatever you are searching to purchase.
Clean, organized store with friendly, helpful staff! Has anything the average person could need and more, hardware wise, with really good prices! Waaaay cheaper than Home Depot or Lowes, but the products aren't terrible quality like Harbor Freight. 👍👍
Always someone ready to help
Excellent staff. Though small they carry lots of things that are specialty like screws, nuts, and bolts. I found caster wheels there for a chest as well. It's worth a trip there before heading out to the big stores.
Went just before closing time but was helped with smile
Everyone is always so friendly and helpful!
Great neighborhood hardware store good selection great staff.
The young female cashier with glasses was fantastic and super friendly. The older gentlemen was okay, I asked a question about and item and he pointed me to where it was instead of taking me over to it, and he was not helping anyone at the time.
Disappointed. I checked online for the availability of the product (plastic replacement shelf sleeves) before I made a trip to this Ace hardware. Online it indicated that several were available but after I arrived neither I or the 2 associates who assisted me could locate them. I walked down every aisle in the store and was not impressed with how certain items were stocked. Messy + many bare areas. I understand the appeal if a non big box hardware store but accurate inventory, easy nventory location, and good first impressions are paramount for any business.
If you are looking for a hardware item and are unable to find it at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Elliott’s then shop here. Great brand selections but best of all, associates that know what they are talking about. This business has been in the Lakewood area for years but moved to this new location several years ago. Worth finding and a pretty neat shopping center as well.
Hard to find parts, the new Elliott's
Nice place to shaping
Cool place. The employees are super helpful.
Ive been going there my whole life, very helpful happy people with a large variety of paints for indoor and outdoor projects
Excellent service and great stocks of equipment
Seriously the most helpful people, always asking what project you're working on. Not sure if they care but it's nice to hear to start the conversation on what you need.
Helpful workers
They were nice and helpful.
The people here are great and will help you out with your problem.
A very nice place, clean and organized well put together store I went in to purchase items for the church, it has been a long time since I was at an ace, I am glad I went I will be back as I continue to need items.
Very nice people and very clean store!
Love this place. Small enough but has everything we need. Employees are ready and waiting to help!
Employees are a little bit more helpful than the bigger boxes but it still kind of hit-or-miss
