Chris did work for us this week. He was servicing our heater for the winter, and found some serious and risky conditions in it. He explained them to me, and we had H-J do the work. He finished that today, and we're very pleased with him and his work. Chris is also an extremely friendly guy. We will ask for him to come for service calls from now on.

On 10/4/24 Chris was back for our fall heater servicing. He again was superb: he found a problem, explained it to us, and he came up with a clever strategy for addressing it. We completely trust him and respect his skill in diagnosing problems and fixing them. He's as friendly as ever. Chris is as good as a technician gets.

12/20 Chris was back today to re-check our heater. He's (still) very reassuring and careful. I always ask for Chris now. In addition to his excellent work, he's awfully friendly. These days we spend a little time catching up on our family news. What a gem of a technician and a person he is.

3/20/25 Today Steve came to do the spring maintenance. He's great, too! Careful and thorough, patient in explaining the two problems he found, and helping me think through a strategy about when to have the repairs done. (We may be selling our house.) But one problem is a safety issue that needs addressing sooner rather than later and the other is more an issue of economy, and reducing the work the system has to do to keep the house cool. We will trust him to do the repairs, as needed.

5/5/25 We sold our house and will soon be leaving it, and Dallas. We asked for Steve to check our heater, so that we could feel safe without repairing it before we leave. (It will be scraped afterwards.) He reassured us that it will be safe for the next few weeks. His good advice has saved us about $2000 in repairs. He is a great technician. Be sure to ask for him if you have H-J do work for you. I recommend them both.

Tyrece did a great job. As always, he gave us a heads up when he was on his way and arrived promptly. He gave our AC a thorough checkup and a new filter to get us ready for summer. We have trusted Harlen Johnson with our HVAC for years and they’ve always done us right.

I had Harlen Johnson install 2 new A/C Heat pump units 5 years ago. They had a 10 year warranty. HJ did semiannual maintenance on both units. Recently the upstairs unit was not cooling and I contacted them to see what was wrong. After Tyrece examined the unit, I was told the compressor had gone out. Despite having a 10 year warranty, the cost to replace it would be roughly $4300 and would have the remaining 5 year warranty. Or for $6K I could replace the entire unit and would have a 10 year warranty. I chose the 2nd option because of the additional 5 years on the warranty. Thinking about it after the fact, I am appalled that even with a 10 year warranty on the original unit the cost to repair it was so high. What good is a 10 year warranty if it costs me so much to repair a unit that failed after only 5 years. I will be using another company for future maintenance and repairs.

Steve was very helpful. He isolated the problem quickly and got the air conditioning system working again. He explained the thermostat and how it works in conjunction with the drain for the air conditioning. It was great to have him out and I would recommend him to anyone.

HVAC maintenance call (b4 summer HEAT). 1st time using Harlen Johnson and I couldn't be more pleased with the courtesy and professionalism for HVAC maintenance service call. Charles (service tech) was knowledgeable and provided advice to keep unit running efficiently for the next several months. I intend to set up a biannual service maintenance plan with them.

Very nice guys, but you need to supply shoes covers for them for when they come indoors. Other than that they did a good job with cleaning afterwards.

After a long week , I had “Tyrece” come and take care of my unit. He not only did it quickly and thoroughly but asked me if I needed help with my kitchen bulbs that were out and gave me recommendations!

Erick and Jared brought their two teams out last week to replace two of our old systems. They did a great job of getting both new systems running. They helped set up the new wifi thermostats and made sure everything was running properly before they left. We had a minor issue when one of the trucks dislodged a stone from our driveway edging, but Harlen Johnson has agreed to pay for the repair.

Harlen Johnson sent Chris out to see what was happening with our Carrier Infinity system and he diagnosed the problem the moment he found the huge block of ice on the inside coils. And our exterior compressor electrical switch had burned out! Scary situation, always happy to have a trustworthy technician like Chris.
Just never ever let your painters ( or anyone else) cover up (or close) your ac supply vents while the system is running or you’ll have this very bad situation which could’ve potentially ruined our system, or caused a fire!

Steven arrived as scheduled. He thoroughly examined the system and, then he gave me a complete report with photos of where the problem areas were.
His communication with me showed that doing the work professionally and efficiently was important to him. He outlined the danger areas of not doing some of the work that could cause a flood in my attic. Overall, it was a good experience and Steven exhibited professional and practical solutions.

Eastbound on-ramp. Hwy 820 at Main Street Saginaw. 732AM 9/18/24. I hope the driving I witnessed this morning is not a reflection of your work. Failing to yield. Failing to use turn signal while changing lanes, almost hitting the front of my vehicle. Changing lanes aggressively and abruptly. Speeding. All a recipe for disaster. Slow down. Bumper to bumper traffic and you're driving like you're on the Autobahn.

Miguel and Eric were the best people I have had come out and work on my unit! They explained everything to me and were very honest and down to earth. I never once felt uncomfortable having them in my home and enjoyed the conversations we had. They made sure everything was working before leaving and they cleaned everything up as well! As financially unpleasant as it is to have to purchase a new HVAC system, Harlen Johnson eased the pocketbook pain by providing speedy, thorough, and professional service. We had some issues with our new thermostat, but Oscar Zuniga handled the challenges and soon we were operating a full speed both with the wall unit and on our phones. After some unhappy experiences with other HVAC companies, it appears we've found an organization that we can stick with.

My AC stopped working and tech Steven Kotera quickly diagnosed that electricity wasn’t getting to the unit and a fuse had blown out and needed to be replaced by an electrician. He also followed up after the electrical repair to ensure the AC was working properly.

I always ask for Oscar at Harlen johnson because he knows his stuff and he works hard. Job well done.

Harlen Johnson installed our a/c systems several years ago. We do twice a year maintenance with them as well. Never had any problems with these systems and the technicians are always on time and do a great job.

He provided detailed information and suggested further actions. A very friendly and knowledgeable man.

I have used Harlen Johnson HVAC for 30 years and they have always had great service and fair pricing. This service rep has worked on my system before and is always courteous and on time. He saw what was causing my issue immediately and came back the next day to make the minor repair. I drain pipe was getting condensation and needed to be insulated , minor issue that could have caused a big problem. I would highly recommend this company for any HVAC system issue.

Steven came out for an AC problem, but realized it was a plumbing problem.
Since their company does plumbing, too. He advocated for us to have a plumber ASAP. Miguel came quickly, cleared our drain line, and suggested how to avoid the problem in the future. We appreciate the quick resolution to our problem.

Can't trust these guys. They are ripped off. My A/C unit leaked out all refrigerant and not cooling my house. They recommended that I replace my whole A/C unit to fix the problem and cost is about $28,000 and if I want to recharge refrigerant only then it will cost $1700. I called another contractor and they only charged me $600 to recharge the refrigerant and said that if I want to fix the problem permanently then will need to replace the coil system and cost me $3500.
If you don't want to be ripped off, don't call this contractor.
